Private Referral
We are able to provide GP referral letters. We can provide a referral letter to confirm your medical conditions or symptoms and the reason that specialist care is recommended.
We usually provide an open referral letter as this is more flexible. If you have private medical insurance, you can then use this referral letter with your insurance company.
Referral letters may also be used to seek a second opinion, specialist diagnostic tests or investigations.
Normally a referral letter will contain information regarding your medical condition and symptoms including the start date, how the medical condition affects you and what your concerns are, and the type of private specialist that we would recommend you seeing.
A letter will also contain details of your past medical history, current medications, and any allergies.
Please note that referral letters are not suitable for emergency situations or where you require immediate review by a doctor.
If you’re suffering from symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, symptoms suggesting sepsis including high fever, severe headaches, collapse, loss of consciousness, seizures or fits, you will need to contact 111, 999 or attend your local emergency department.
Other conditions which are not suitable for waiting outpatient appointments include slurred speech, symptoms of a stroke, loss of power in any muscles or facial drop, heavy bleeding, severe mental health problems including suicidal thoughts, sudden loss of vision or deep pain in the eye.
Please note we’re unable to refer you directly under the NHS. These referral letters are provided for private care and assessment.

Travel and Holiday Cancellation Certificates
If illness or a health condition has disrupted your travel or holiday plans, you may need official documentation to cancel or reschedule your arrangements. By submitting the necessary information, we can provide a travel or holiday cancellation certificate confirming your medical status and, if appropriate, advising that cancellation is recommended. All certificates include our GMC registration details for verification.
Chickenpox Recovery Letters
If you or your child have recently recovered from chickenpox and all spots are fully scabbed over, some airlines may request a fit-to-fly certificate confirming you are no longer infectious. We can supply this documentation to facilitate travel.
Gym and Health Club Cancellation Certificates
If sickness, injury, or a health condition has impacted your ability to exercise, you may need a certificate to cancel or suspend gym membership. Following our assessment, we can provide a letter confirming your situation, where appropriate.
